GE Capital hosted their second annual Mid Market Summit in London on Tuesday. The event attracted nearly 400 business leaders from across the UK.
Guest speakers included Sir Martin Sorrell (founder of WPP the worlds largest ad agency), John Mills of JML, Will Butler Adams (Brompton Bikes), Nick Page (Swift Group) and Sir Chris Hoy (6 gold medals).
Our chairman, Daron Hutt, was invited to take part in a discussion panel with (from left) John Cridland (Director General of the CBI), James Quinn (Financial Editor of The Telegraph) and James Weil (CEO of Hospedia).
The key findings of the Mid Market Report are:
(1) The UK market is more optimistic about growth than any other European country
(2) UK mid market firms are growing faster than in Germany
(3) The recipe for growth is based on UK companies re-investing in the business and focussing on expansion
(4) The major challenge faced by UK companies is keeping down costs
