Action for Children’s Dorset Nightstop Named 4Com’s 2023 Charity Partner!

4Com, the Bournemouth-based leading provider of business telephone systems, are delighted to announce Action for Children’s Dorset Nightstop as their 2023 Charity Partner. Dorset Nightstop was selected, via a company-wide vote, from over 30 charities that applied, and will be the beneficiaries of at least £30,000 raised by 4Com.

The service provides emergency temporary accommodation to homeless young people aged 16 to 25, placing them with volunteer host families, typically for up to three nights, while local agencies find a long-term solution.

Dorset Nightstop says the cost-of-living crisis and lack of suitable and available accommodation means they’re supporting more young people at risk of homelessness than ever.

With the money raised by 4Com, Dorset Nightstop will provide training and ongoing support to eight new volunteer hosts to provide emergency 4Com accommodation for 12 months. These safe spaces will provide a minimum of 350 safe nights per year to young people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless in Dorset.

Dean Cartledge, 4Com’s Chief Operating Officer and Head of the 4Com Foundation, paid tribute to the charity, saying “We’re delighted to announce Action for Children’s Dorset Nightstop as our charity partner for 2023. With homelessness in the UK rising, particularly with young people, we understand the importance of the work carried out by Dorset Nightstop and want to do our part to combat the homelessness crisis on our doorstep.”

4Com’s CEO, Gary Scutt, added, “I am so proud of our Team here at 4Com who continue to raise money for worthy causes like Action for Children’s Dorset Nightstop. We are truly inspired by the charity’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of young homeless people in our community. The thought of people as young as 16 having to sleep rough is heartbreaking and I am pleased that the money we raise will be able to provide eight emergency safe spaces, offering shelter, warmth, and support for vulnerable young people facing homelessness in Dorset. I am also pleased to announce, that once again every pound donated will be matched by the 4Com Foundation.”

Dean continues, “The 4Com Foundation are dedicated to supporting charity initiatives that align with our values, and we are excited to work closely with Dorset Nightstop to help them achieve their goals. We look forward to taking on our 24-Hour Moveathon to raise money for this incredible charity!”

Mhairi Bass- Carruthers, Fundraising Manager at Action for Children, comments, “We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as 4Com’s Charity Partner for 2023 and look forward to working with their team over the coming months. We’d like to say a huge thank you to 4Com for their wonderful support, generosity, and commitment, which will make an incredible difference to young people supported by Dorset Nightstop”.
