Leased Lines

If you’re after high speeds and unbeatable reliability, choose a leased line. An uncontended line shared with nobody else, you’re guaranteed the same download and upload speeds all day long. Leased lines are particularly ideal for businesses that require a higher capacity connection.

FTTC & FTTP

Fibre to the Cabinet If you’re looking for high-speed fibre optic broadband, you can choose from two types at 4Com. FTTC (which stands for Fibre to the Cabinet) is the first, where a fibre optic connection reaches your local cabinet or exchange. From here, the connection will be directed to your premises via copper cables.

Our different business broadband packages

With 4Com, there are four different types of business broadband available. Each has their own benefits, and our expert advisors will be able to suggest the most suitable one for you and your business.

The four types are ADSL, ADSL 2+, FTTC (Fibre to Cabinet) and FTTP (Fibre to Premises).

ADSL

ADSL is a modern connection which utilises traditional copper cabling.

ADSL 2+

As the name suggests, ADSL2+ is a level up from it’s predeccsor and allows for improved top-end speed.

FTTC

FTTC delivers a fibre connection to your local exchange, allowing for greater speeds over other options.

FTTP

FTTP provides a fibre connection directly to your premises allowing for the greatest speeds of these 4 options.

What is business broadband?

Your business broadband connection is undoubtedly one of the most critical pieces of your business’ communication system, which is why we offer a variety of solutions to give you the best possible speeds.

If you use the internet as a company, you’ll need a business broadband connection.

Whether it’s for the use of email, Skype, research, or something more intensive such as uploading videos and more bandwidth-intensive communications, it’s essential that staying connected is quick and simple.

With 4Com, we can help you find the connectivity services you need, all supported by our UK-based customer service team.

What speeds can a business expect?

If you’re currently experiencing less than acceptable broadband speeds in your office, it’s understandable that you’d find it frustrating.

At 4Com, we provide four different options of internet connection, the most suitable of which we’ll be able to advise on:

Get in touch
This type has a maximum speed of 8Mbps, it has the lowest capacity of all the types we offer.

This connection offers up to 24Mbps and is one of the most common options.

Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) and Fibre to the premises (FTTP) – both offer upload speeds of up to 20Mbps and download speeds of up to 80Mbps.

How reliable is business broadband?

Business broadband connections tend to be extremely reliable, with most providers offering connections with uptime at either the “3 9’s” or “4 9’s” of 99.9% and 99.99% respectively.

If you’re looking for even greater uptime than this, it might be worth considering dual connections and investigating our high-capacity leased lines as one of your connections. If these connections route back to different central locations to reach the wider internet, you are less likely to be effected by any downtime.

The customer service we’ve received over the 7 years we’ve been with 4Com, I must say, has been excellent. Anytime that we’ve reported an issue, they’re invariably minor issues, they’ve been resolved instantaneously.

Things to Consider when choosing connectivity

As there are so many options to choose from, here are a few areas we encourage our customers to consider when they are decided which business connectivity to select.

1

What’s available?

Whilst availability is rapidly improving across the UK, some connectivity options may not be available in every area. Our team will run checks for you to see which offering is available to your business.
2

What do you need?

While it’s always easy to simply pick the option with the most bandwidth or highest speed, consider the needs of your business. For many businesses, ADSL2+ still represents the best combination of speed versus costs.
3

Think about uploads too

When we think of broadband speed, we often think of downloads, but if you’re company is sending large files for any reason, then upload speeds are equally important and should be considered as part of your buying decision.

Which Broadband Option is Right for me?

Generally speaking, the type and capacity of the broadband will depend on the size of your company and the type of business you operate. While there are exceptions, the below can serve as a useful general guide.

Small

Small businesses of up to 50 employees tend to select an ADSL or ADSL 2+ connection as this provides the capacity they require and is the most affordable option.

Medium

As ADSL 2+ connections offer speeds of up to 24Mbps, they are often found in mid sized business. FTTC connections are also popular in this category for those with higher speed requirements.

Large

Larger companies will need to capacity only offered by FTTC, FTTP, or private Leased Line connections. These also have the added benefit of superior upload speeds.
