4Com Raise £36,719 for Diverse Abilities

4Com, the Bournemouth based telecommunications provider, have announced that a total of £36,719 has been raised for their 2016 charity partner, Diverse Abilities.

To raise this money, a team of forty-one 4Com volunteers went to Chippenham to take part in the Tough Mudder South West; a 12-mile course, consisting of 14 extreme obstacles. The team had to overcome 500,000 litres of mud and 40 tons of ice, but all members of the team successfully completed the challenge, crossing the finish line with only a few cuts, bumps and bruises along the way.

Staff, suppliers, family and friends all generously donated to the appeal. 4Com also held a raffle, a silent auction, a pool competition and an internal dress down day, with all money raised being put towards the total. The 4Com Foundation matched the donations raised by staff, helping to achieve the total of £36,719 and exceed previous fundraising records.

Daron Hutt, MD and Chairman of 4Com congratulated all those who took part in the Tough Mudder. He said, “Diverse Abilities is such a special and wonderful local children’s charity. I am so proud of all the staff that donated so generously and to those that put their all into completing the Tough Mudder to help us not only reach, but exceed our £30,000 target for them.”

Diverse Abilities is a Dorset-based charity which provides support for children and adults living with physical and learning disabilities. 4Com will be donating the money to their Lilypad Appeal; a project that, when finished, will be a new children’s respite home providing care for up to 13 children at a time. 4Com’s donation will fund the entire Indoor Play Space within this home, giving the children a place to enjoy cooking, baking and other fun activities, while giving their families the respite and support they need.

Dean Cartledge, 4Com Director and Head of the 4Com Foundation, said he can’t wait to see the money transferred to Diverse Abilities, so they can start the construction of the Indoor Play Space. “It will be great for us, the Tough Mudder team especially, to visit once it’s finished and see the space completed and being used by those who need it.”

As a result of their fundraising, 4Com has been nominated as Diverse Abilities’ Corporate Supporter of the Year and will be attending an award ceremony on 28th September 2016.
