Thunderbirds are go at 4Com

5…  4…  3…  2…  1… Thunderbirds are go as 4Com, the Bournemouth based telecommunications provider to UK SMEs, has announced it will be entering a team into Gamma Ball Rally IV with their very own version of Thunderbird 4.

The charity race which starts in Newbury on 16th September will see a host of teams drive through three countries before arriving at the finish line in Amsterdam on Friday 18th September.  The Rally has been organised by Gamma, who are one of 4Com’s suppliers and one of the biggest fixed-line service providers in the UK.

With just a £500 budget to buy their car, 4Com will be transforming a 2002 Vauxhall Omega with a dashing yellow spray job, decals, bonnet vent and tail fin to create their very own Thunderbird 4.

Matt Lucas, 4Com’s Mobiles Manager, is a part of the rally team, and he explained the theme behind 4Com’s entry. He added, “We’ve decided to base our entry around a classic from our childhood, so our entry will be called ‘Thunderbird 4Com’. Our team have been expertly transforming our Vauxhall Omega and we’ll be getting into the spirit of the event by travelling in Thunderbirds characters fancy dress too.”

Whilst fun and light hearted, the rally raises thousands for charity. To date, Gamma Ball Rallies have raised over £100,000 and this year the beneficiaries are Action Through Enterprise and SpecialEffect. ATE are based in Ghana and are seeking to end poverty in Lawra, by working collaboratively with local people and organisations to enable people to help themselves.  SpecialEffect are a UK based charity who seek to improve the quality of life of people with physical disabilities by using technology.

Adam Sullivan, 4Com’s Maintenance Director and rally team member explained why they were keen to participate in this year’s rally, “Here at 4Com we’re passionate about charitable work; we recently raised over £35,000 for Amelia-Grace Rainbow Fund by climbing the Welsh 3 Peaks, so we jumped at the chance to be involved with the Gamma Ball Rally.  Gamma are a longstanding partner of ours, so we’re delighted to be joining with them to support these two great charities.”
