TELECOMMUNICATIONS company 4Com picked out Linwood school as its chosen good cause for its fundraising in 2014.
Representatives from the 4Com Foundation officially opened the new facilities on the 27th February when a commemorative wall plaque was unveiled.
The 4Com Foundation is a charitable trust that has supported Linwood School in Winton by raising £24,000 to install a multi-function, multi-sensory outdoor recreation and learning area.
The project will help 232 pupils aged 3 to 18 with severe learning and physical disabilities make use of outdoor space.
Linwood School’s old equipment was limited and in need of constant maintenance and was not accessible to all children.
The school could not afford to improve the outdoor space itself as all its funding goes on the welfare of children and staff inside the school.
The 4Com Foundation wholly sponsored the construction and maintenance of the brand new outdoor gym and climbing wall.
Fundraising by 4Com began with the 4Forty challenge, in which 20 employees finished the 42-mile Lyke Wake Walk in under 18 hours on June 6 and 7, with the company matching every pound raised by staff.
Staff got involved again later in the year with the 4Freefall parachute jump ensuring that the whole £24,000 was raised in less than a year.
Daron Hutt, chairman of 4Com plc, said: “The new 4Com Foundation charitable trust supports worthy causes in the local community not only by fund raising but also by volunteering time to help.”

About 4Com Foundation
The 4Com Foundation was set up at the end of 2014 to help focus the charity work undertaken by 4Com employees. It is run by a committee of volunteers drawn from the staff who nominate the charities that benefit and come up with ingenious ideas to raise money and to assist in local community based projects.
Everything raised by the staff is matched pound by pound by 4Com.
