4Com, the Bournemouth based Telecommunications Company, has been named as a finalist in this year’s Dorset Business Awards in the Engagement with the Community category.
The announcement comes as 4Com marks the first anniversary of the launch of their “4Com Foundation”, which was created in response to feedback from staff which highlighted how highly they valued charitable activities. The foundation’s first full year has seen £40,000 donated to local charities.
Another new initiative this year saw 4Com offer local charities the opportunity to apply to be their charity of the year, which saw Amelia-Grace Rainbow Fund chosen after a staff vote. 4Com had initially pledged to raise £15,000, but a staggering level of generosity from staff, suppliers and customers saw them raise over £35,000 during their Welsh 3 Peaks charity challenge. The money is being used to fund a holiday home in Dorset for the charity to offer to families with children who are suffering from terminal, life limiting and serious chronic illness.
Commenting on being named a finalist, Daron Hutt, 4Com’s Chairman and Managing Director said, “We’re delighted to have been recognised for the work the whole company has put in to make a difference to those in need in our community. Whilst the Welsh 3 Peaks was the big event of the year, we’ve also had elderly lunches, helped with soup kitchens and provided warm clothing for the homeless, all of which has been made possible by the team here at 4Com. We’ve also provided 2 “Sunshine Coaches” to Variety, the Children’s Charity and supported numerous charities with our monthly dress down donations, so it’s clear how passionate our team are about engaging with our community. I’m incredibly proud of our efforts, and thrilled that the Dorset Business Awards have named us as a finalist.”
The winners of each of the 11 categories will be named at a black tie gala dinner held at the Bournemouth International Centre on November 26th.
