The 4Com Foundation was established in 2014 to formalise the various fundraising and other charitable activities that are common here at 4Com. We’ve raised over £100,000 in the past few years by doing various challenges, such as the 40 Mile Lyke Wake Walk, The Welsh 3 Peaks and most recently, Tough Mudder.
The Welsh 3 Peaks
In 2015, the 4Com Foundation sent a team of 30 to take on the Welsh Three Peaks in under 24 hours, initially aiming to raise £15,000 for The Amelia-Grace Rainbow Fund.
After an incredible amount of fundraising, we eventually donated just over £35,000, allowing them to provide a new holiday home for families whose children are suffering from terminal, chronic or life limiting illnesses.
Macmillan Cake Day
As well as the big events, we also regularly hold smaller events to benefit a wide range of charities. One such event which proved particularly popular was our Macmillan Cake Day. Our team were invited to create their own cakes and sell them to use money for Macmillan.
We also held created our own judging panel and named Jo Smith as our star baker for 2015!
The Lyke Wake Walk
The Lyke Wake walk is a grueling 40 mile trek across the North Yorkshire Moors, which we took on in 2014 in order to raise money to fund the development of a new play area for Linwood School. Linwood work with children who have a wide array of both learning and physical disabilities.
Our team took on the walk in particularly hazardous conditions, facing strong winds and driving rain but persevered and completed the walk in 18 hours, walking through the night in the process.
Age Concern & Christchurch Angels Lunches
One of the more regular charity events we hold thanks to the 4Com Foundation are our lunches with Age Concern Christchurch and Christchurch Angels. These lunches provide an opportunity to connect with seniors in our community, to share lunch with them and provide various forms of entertainment.
To date, we’ve held 4 such lunches, with our most recent one also enabling us to celebrate the 100th Birthday of one of our guests.
